January

Well don’t you agree with me that January is the longest and the most boring month of the year? Well anyway, it is not so much that have been happening that is worth writing about. Maybe just that the first group of Icelandic guests where very happy with me and Arnar….. So that is very good. Anyway I am working 12-16 hours a day, then I go to sleep, and if I am bothered I go out. The plan is to go out tonight, maybe I go, but the thing is I have an excursion on Tuesday for the first time with Icelandic people, and it is an all day excursion, so I have to study for it…. But we will see….. Hope you are all enjoying your January, there are only 2 days left of it… Jibbi

Hard week

Well the Icelandic guest has arrived. It went well. I know 3 couples, the most of the people is between 45-70 years old. My colleges think it is so funny how everybody knows everybody in Icealnd. The day after the arrival me and Arnar had a welcome meeting for the guests. Around 90 people showed up of 170 arriving, which is very good. It is more people than comes to the Danish, Swedish and Norwegian meeting combined:) In the evening we went to an Icelandic restaurant and ate salmon. It was sooo good. On Sudnays they serve lamb, and I am so going. Friday I was suppose to go the island trip but it did not sell too well, so it got canceled. But on  Monday I am going on a shopping trip to Las Palmas, the capital of the island, of course that trip sold great for the Icelandic shoppaholics. Today, Sunday is my day off. My first day off since I got here, finally. It has been difficult to go back to work after lying around for a month, I get tired much sooner now than before the accident. Yesterday was a very long and a hard day. We had so many flight delays because of the weather in Scandinavia. The flight to Göteborg was 24 hours delayed, the flight from Billund was 9 hours delayed, the flight from Copenhagen was 5 hours delayed, and so it was the whole day. I went to the airport with the Stavaneger bus, which was not delayed and was suppose to go back with the Stockholm which was not late ether. But they choose to let me go inside to the tax-free area and wait for 5 hours with the Copenhagen flight, and then go back with the guests that arrived  flight 5 hours delayed. Anyway some people where very understanding while others where very pissed off. They could not understand why they had to wait inside the airport for 5 hours, instead of waiting in the hotel. And then there are some new EU rules about flight delay which I know nothing about, and I was very ashamed of that. But the worst part of all was I could not buy anything because you need a boarding pass to buy something in the tax-free shops:cry: Then finally I got the onboard and after I had been to 13 hotels with the guests that arrived, I went back to the airport and then it was time for the Billund guests. I only had to go to 4 hotels to check them in. Then I went to the office to translate the departure time for the Icelandic people I had to do it yesterday, because Arnar had to take it to the hotels today, and he can not translate it. So I finished my work around 1am after 16 hours of work. So today it is relaxing day and tomorrow shopping. It is a first time I am going on an excursion for the first time and I am not nervous, I mean it is actually something I am good at. Shopping;)

The first guests

Ok tonight is the night the first guests arrives.  At 20.10 they come. Me and Arnar have been working very hard this week. And now it is going to be exciting to meet the guests.

Last Friday I went to Tenerife to get all my stuff. I went out partying with Team Tenerife. It was so nice to see them all again. I did not want to go back to GC. Saturday morning I wake up at 7 o’clock to pack my things. I was sooo tired. I was suppose to fly from the airport in south at 10.30. But I was on standby and I was booked on flight form the airport in north at 12.00. The flight was full. I did not get in time for the other flight, because of trouble with my luggage. But at 13.00 I went to GC. Saturday night I was so tired I went to bed at 21.00. Sunday it was work, see all the hotels, and translate and so on. Then Monday we had team day. The whole team eat breakfast together at a 4 star hotel. Then we went to a water park where we relaxed for the day. Then it was lunch in the afternoon. Games at the beach and then dinner in the evening. It was a very nice night. But no party for me because the next day I went to an excursion at 7 in the morning. It was a very nice trip around the island.

Today prepare for the first guests…… I will tell you how it went.

Arrival to Gran Canary

Came on Wednesday. Went to the office said hello to the people that where there. I do not remember all the names. In total we are 28 working here. I stay in an ok apartment with Marina, a Swedish girl, who came to Tenerife to help us out after the bus accident, so I knew her a little bit. Yesterday I walked all around Playa de Ingles to see the town and in the evening I went to a show called Capos. The waters and waitresses are the show, in between courses the sing and dance. This year it is a Frank Sinatra show so all the music is from that time…. Today I stayed in the office and tonight I am going to Tenerife to pick up my stuff and say goodbye to team Tenerife. Tomorrow when I come back I have to learn everything about the airport.

Tomorrow

Well tomorrow is the day I go back to work. It has been very nice to have 6 weeks off. Even though I can’t call it a holiday, more like recovering. But I am going to enjoy my last day of recovering. It is going to be difficult to start working again. I have to work, not just hang around. I have to get used to wake up at 8 o’clock, not 12, it would be more easy if I was going back in time, like to USA, but there is no time difference between Iceland and the Canary Islands.

Tomorrow I have a direct flight to Gran Canary, and then I go to Tenerife in the weekend to get my stuff. When I left Tenerife I was only planning on going away for 1 week not 6 ;)

But I will tell you everything about GC when I get there. And when I can get to a computer. I do not have a computer anymore, and I am not planning on buying one before I go to school in the fall.
